Overview

Brad grew up in health care. Literally. The son of a pediatric oncologist and a pediatric nurse practitioner (and clinical nurse specialist, too), Brad grew up surrounded by experts in their fields and with firsthand knowledge of the stresses that our dedicated providers face every day. It clearly rubbed off on him – he can now count his wife (clinical social worker and mental health therapist), sister (pediatric nurse practitioner), and brothers-in-law (surgical sales rep, firefighter EMT, and gastroenterologist, respectively) as part of his health care family.

While direct patient care fell by the wayside as a prospect long ago, Brad finds great pride in his work helping providers of all types do their jobs – to help the helpers focus on their vitally important work without the worry of the complex regulatory schemes that affect so much of their industry. In that vein (pun intended), Brad supports almost all aspects of legal and regulatory issues that providers face every day.

Brad matches this knowledge with practicality and real-world experience. As a former in-house attorney at a regional health system, Brad combines the operational needs and direct day to day knowledge learned from being close to, and sometimes even on, the front lines. He understands how regulatory advice will affect each department of a provider, including Operations, Medical Staff, HR, IT, Supply Chain, and Revenue Cycle.

In addition to his regulatory practice, Brad also assists with health care transactions, patient complaints, medical ethics, privacy, and medical staff issues, and he has robust experience with Ohio’s Medicaid waiver programs and administration.

Brad collaborates with health care clients to navigate the terms and conditions associated with employment agreements, real estate leasing and acquisition, and vendor and supply chain partnerships, as well as the purchase of medical equipment. Additionally, he represents health systems in pre-litigation disputes, governmental inquiries and regulatory investigations, internal investigations, pre-litigation mediation/arbitration proceedings, and administrative hearings. He also assists providers to ensure compliance with the 340B drug pricing program, HIPAA, HITECH, EMTALA, Information Blocking, graduate medical education, and fraud/abuse laws, educating his clients and supporting them through audits and investigations.

Outside The Office

Brad could have a whole second job just doing his hobbies, most of which are music-related. Brad plays the bass guitar – a skill he picked up in high school and has developed to elite levels: an invitation and current roster spot for the Bricker Graydon Wyatt firm band.

When he’s not lawyering, husbanding, fathering, or playing an instrument, he is probably listening to music. He’s recently started a growing vinyl collection and will happily talk your ear off about his recent purchases.

Brad’s love of music extends to his kids. His daughter is an aspiring dancer, excelling in classical ballet and contemporary dance; his son is an aspiring guitar virtuoso. Brad couldn’t be more proud.
